QuadPatch: Retopology Tool
Introducing QuadPatch.
A retopology tool for Blender 3.0 designed to very quickly generate quad surfaces on your 3d model when working with large areas.
With this tool, you can very quickly generate quad strips.
Features include:
Edge-loop path highlighting
Dynamic Path Drawing
Control over segments
Surface Relaxing
Hotkey Panel
Installation:
Once you have downloaded your file, Install the add-on in the Blender Preferences > Add-ons Tab > Install from zip > Locate .zip file
When you enable it, the QuadPatch v1.0 panel will be located in the Retopology Tab(N)
GETTING STARTED
Before you begin drawing, make sure to set the path count.
In this case, I set it to 10, so 10 points will be distributed for each stroke.
Setting the count to 2, will allow you to draw out quad strips.
SEGMENT CONTROL
You can control number of segments by Ctrl + MiddleMouse Scrolling
HIGHLIGHTING EDGE-LOOPS
Edge highlighting is done by path finding between 2 edges.
Holding down SHIFT will pick the first edge & as you hover over the second edge, your edge loop will be highlighted. Releasing SHIFT will confirm your selection. This is when you can draw out the following path for extending that edge loop.
RELAX
Sometimes edge-loops can be uneven, you can relax the quads by hitting the R key.
This will smooth out inner edges ignoring the boundary loop.
I added a shortcut key for Loop cuts(C) as well so you can quickly add loops.
You can exit the modal using the ESC key.
